Search engine optimization is my number one passion, so when I hear anything related to search engines and the promoting of websites as a paid service, I get a little suspect.
Most recently I heard a commercial from Verizon that states they will promote your new business website to hundreds of search engines. 100s? get real. There is nothing I hate more than hearing commercials that tell folks that they will submit their website to 100s or 1000s of search engines.
Seriously, when you are searching for something on the internet, you typically (and so do millions of others) go straight to Google or Bing. Am I right?
The fact of the matter is that there are not 100 legitimate search engines to submit your sites too. Heck, it is even pointless to even make an effort. The key is to remain focused and promote to those search engines that you already know about. I only know and MAYBE use about 3 search engines, but for the sake of keeping a standard list of 5 (I was going to do 5 plus a bonus 5 engines, but that would be as stupid as something something with a something something), in no order of importance. So here we go with the list
Top 5 Search Engines as recommend by ME, Tony Rocks.
- Google – What really else is there? They have great listings, integrated social content, and a killer image search to steal photos for your office presentations.
- Bing – Though not as good as Google, (in fact, the engine has been accused of stealing results from Google) it does have a nice image search too.
- Yahoo – Wait, you know, come to think of it, I can’t remember the last time I used Yahoo to search for anything. Maybe it doesn’t deserve to be on the Top 5 Search Engines.
There you have it, my Top 5 Search Engines as Recommended by Me. Wait…I only listed 3? Well, if you can find me 2 more search engines, worthy of being in the top 5, please send them along!
